Sara Capacci used naturopathy to conceive her first child and fell in love with its potential to nurture. As a sleep-deprived mother, she enrolled in a Health Science degree at Endeavour College and reconnected with her own vitality and purpose.
“Apart from giving me knowledge about holistic health, my studies also gave me a sense of worth,” she said. “It was a double win. I was helping myself and my family and creating a career where I could help other people create a better life for themselves.”
With the arrival of her second child, it became challenging for Sarah to get to class. “I moved my study online, completing the Complementary Medicine degree,” she said. “The course gave me the flexibility to be with my kids, and study when, and if, I could.”
“Even though it was an online experience, the forums and discussions made it feel like being in a real classroom,” Sara said. “The tutor was always present and answering questions. Online I met the most amazing people, who I’m still in contact with. Some went on to be practitioners, some are doing other amazing things in life.”
Before she graduated, Sara started to think about how to use her degree. She decided to draw on her own experience as a new mum in a foreign country, separated from the support of her family and Italian culture.
“When I was at my lowest point, I realised I was missing connection. Not just with other people, but with myself,” Sara said. “Without connection to myself, I had no motivation to eat well, to think better, or to change my habits.”
Sara decided to create her own online business, the Connection Project, to inspire other women to get back to who they are. “Sometimes, people are not ready to see a practitioner, but they want a little support to make changes to their eating habits or lifestyle.”
As well as her online program, Sara offers one-on-one consultations for people seeking extra support. “When I started studying, I thought I’d become a practitioner, but running an online business gives me the flexibility to be present for my kids as well as my clients. It’s also location independent. So much so that I’m going back to Italy for a while and I’m going to help my clients from there.”
Sara’s next goal is to run retreats, where she can connect with her clients in person, sharing her energy and passion for good health. “Health doesn’t have to be a punishment. It must be an enjoyable experience that makes you excited to live your best life now and in the future.”
